Knittins' Happenin'
I have some things to note.
1) I was doing YO's completely wrong. I was just wrapping the yarn over the needle from back to front and carrying on. Thus, on the next row, the only way I could get a proper hole was to knit through the back leg. Though this created a hole, it still looked wonky.
2) I was doing my ssk's the proper way, but have begun my project with the ssk as slip 1 knit wise, slip 1 purlwise, knit both together. Now I have great looking ssk's thanks to the fine crowd at Ravelry.
The result is my new version of Oriel. The picture below is not blocked, but I will later post the swatch I made before implementing the above-mentioned improvements. (Note my BRAND SPANKIN' NEW Harmony options!)

Also in progress are the socks I'm making for Charles for Christmas (dumb to mention it in a public forum, but he's no dummy). Made from some cool wool with which I also made a Calorimetry (not pictured yet).

The colors are very washed out. The Oriel is made with a heathery brown/gray alpaca I got at Rhinebeck's Sheep and Wool. The other is from a yarn store in Gettysburg. A nice rich tweedy heathery green (but not tweed). I'll get my camera cable soon so I can say bye to these phone pics. Sorry!
My thanks to Ravelry - and phone-image-emailing to Flickr.
I must get to work before I get my ass whooped.

WIP Wednesday
The first snow in Baltimore! Winter feels so fresh to me. I love it.
Some works-in-progress and FOs. The first FO was a scarf I made for Charles out of Malabrigo. It's a very pretty mustard/sunrise color, but I have yet to take a picture. He insisted on wearing it right away, so there goes the Christmas surprise. I therefore started a new project with the intent of making it a complete surprise, from yarn to color to purpose. Wouldn't you know it though? I said "See, this is why I'm not working on the sock..." when he kept walking in on me without announcing himself. So my big impulsive mouth gave it away. But I still have yarn and color working for me. :)
I'm still working on my socks with the Eye-of-Partridge heel. Since those are for me , they will remain on the back burner.

I did, however, finish some wristwarmers, made out of Malabrigo as well, but a color I picked for me - pretty pink.

I started a Heroes illusion scarf (Ravelry link), made by gradskoolknitter in Ravelry. I'm a test knitter and have to finish this baby!

And I still have to finish the Brea bag that I'm making for Leslie. My sister-in-law wants one as well. The first side took me about 4 hours, so the next should be easier because I'm more familiar with cables than I was when I started.

I'm also working on a pink garter-stitch poncho for my niece and ... well. That's enough, isn't it?
